Shout out to a user called Hex_27 for creating a simple but effective lootbox plugin for us! Don't worry, it's not like EA's lootbox system. The plugin allows us to spawn different types of lootboxes in different areas & regions. It basically means free goodies for everyone!

What sort of loot will be inside these boxes?
Probably anything, but I expect it to mostly be just loot you can get from killing monsters and doing quests. This basically encourages people to go adventuring without losing too much gold and exp etc. :)

That's pretty cool. If people want to see Dyescape for it's content other than questing and grinding, they can be rewarded with little gifts. Will it re-spawn in the same place every time though?

Nope, it is randomised to even encourage adventuring even more. This also means that if you pass a house on the side of the road it could contain goodies or something alike. Every cave, every mountain etc. This makes the map feel way more interactive and even bigger! Every little thing has its meaning. But, if you find one chest in a cave in a mountain, the chances of it respawning in that region again is huge. Not on the exact same spot, but it will definitely be around there somewhere.

I guess I'll quickly fly in on the lootbox questions (we're probably better off renaming it to treasure chests instead at this point).

Correct. The lootboxes were are currently speaking of are simply treasure chests spawned in the world which contain (not fully random, it's always configured somewhere) loot. The amount of loot differs and depends how lucky you are.

It's not completely random. It's random enough to make sure that it's always interesting wondering where the lootbox for a specific area will spawn, but it's not completely random as in the lootbox can spawn anywhere. Anywhere as in, in the middle of a cave, bottom of the ocean or even on top of a mountain. The content team configures a bunch of specific points for a specific area where a specific chest can spawn. For example, in the sea acre farms we may choose to spawn 1 (which is quite low, but for the sake of explaining this) treasure chest. Then, we can configure something like 15 spawn points. The chest will then randomly spawn in one of these spawn points and will respawn after an x amount of time after being looted. This is done to prevent chests from spawning in such random locations nobody will ever find them, and it helps us balance things out more as we can configure where specific types of chests (type of loot) should spawn.
