Suggestion AOE Healing Effect for Priest

With the release of the Class skills to the community, It seems that a certain capability of most Support class roles is missing for Priests. That is the AOE heal capability.

Skill: God Rays
Cooldown: 300 Seconds
Mechanic: A shimmering area appears on the ground that heals all entities for %30 Base Damage every 2 seconds for 12 seconds. During this period, the Priest is Unable to move from Casting location, however is effected by the effect as well.

The reason for a lower base damage percentage is due to the longer time period that the skill is active. This effect gives the party a "retreat" or "stand-off" location that players can return to or defend.

The priest is unable to move during this time period since they need to summon the Gods rays of healing to their location. They are also effected by this skill since they are unable to move, making them liable to attack, however party members are able to move in and out of the location freely.

There is a high cooldown since this skill is not a "primary" skill, theoretically, this should be used mid-fight after re-applying effects to team members.

I want to point out that this is because the other 2 branches for all classes are not developed nor designed yet. I know there are some old plans laying around for these other branches and I know that one other branch for Priest was focussing purely on massive healing abilities and solely a support role. In that branch should be plenty of AEO effects. The branch that Priest will have at alpha is a somewhat 50/50 regarding defence and offensive. Priest is not Priest without defence (support), and without any offensive, it's impossible to play. We are aware of the fact that Priest will probably be quite unbalanced and hard to play at initial launch, but by all means AEO spells are planned for Priest; just not at initial release.

What exactly these skills will be, how they look, how they behave and what they do is not up to me to decide.

If the general suggestion is "priests should have AEO spells" then my answer to the suggestion would be that it's already planned, just not for initial release. If the suggestion is to also implement the skill described above then I will have someone else from the content team respond to that point, since that's not my job.

I haven't read through all of it, but priest has AOEs spells.

I never included range of any skills as I found the current ones unbalanced. I'll talke a look at your skill later today.

Look at the descriptions when it says "Ally" or "Allies".

Also, I don't think AoE healing is necessary for alpha. Most likely grouped content is fairly limited and only in smaller groups where only one person is tanking. But in the future, as Aekalix and Dennis mentioned, with the other branches, there is more potential to add a fully healing focused branch.

There will not be any party or guild mechanics at launch, so it's expected that players grouping will be limited, and by all means not supported by software yet.

Look at the recent DevLogs, you'll find that Priest has AoE spells!

Most priests healing skills are AOE based not team-based, meaning whether you are in a party or not, you wont get the healing effect if you are not within the range of the skill.

The 'unable to move during casting' thing would not suit the Priests
  1. Priests has a low defense, meaning for every second they are using the skill, they are risking getting hit by entities while allowing the healing skill to cast.
Please be mindful that there are still 3 missing skills per class which is to be added in BETA Phase.

It could always suit the priest. That's not the issue haha.

For now, there are multiple AoE skills for Priest and this suggestion will be taken into account once we start exploring more skill options.

If the dungeons that will be created are meant for more than 4 players then the priest doesn't need an aoe skill. But if there will be bigger dungeons it would be highly recommended to have at least one aoe skill. Now, I don't know what the development team is doing, so I'll just say that it can be a good idea.
